It’s almost Halloween! My favourite holiday, ever! And I have some more Graphic 45. 🙂 Here’s their blog: http://www.g45papers.com/  Notice there are no photos on these poor lonely layouts? That’s because I have no more Halloween photos of my daughter. 😦 But I love Halloween and have oodles of Halloween stuff. So, I craft a few a year. Sometimes I give them away. Sometimes I just keep them. Maybe my sister will send me some photos of her munchkins that I can put on them. 😉 *Hint! Hint!

I love how this one turned out! It’s so pretty and glittery. 🙂

I did this one for a layout tag game I played with some of my online friends. I had a great layout to lift, thanks Melissa!

Then I did this one for a challenge posted on Skrap and Chat (find them here: http://www.skrapnchat.com ). It was fun and challenging.

Well, that’s all for now!

Wow, I really need to get on here more often. Well, I haven’t felt very crafty this past year. But I’m off to a good start now. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I finally found Graphic 45’s Ladies Diary papers at my local scrapbook store. I love these papers. You can find Graphic 45 here:  http://www.g45papers.com/   I used to know how to do the fancy links but I can’t remember so this will have to do for now. Here are a few of the cards I’ve made recently.

I love this card! I fussy cut the beautiful lady and added her with some pop dots. She was just calling out for pearls, and besides every lady needs her pearls. Right?

This is such a simple card but I love love love how it turned out. You can’t see but I added texture to the rose section with goosebumps, the shimmery ones of course.

That’s a little ostrich feather and one of my homemade lace flowers. While I was making this one my daughter came along and laughed at me when I said I was waiting for my Glossy Accents to dry so I could add more texture to it. Apparently she thought it had enough. lol

More Ladies Diary. I just can’t get enough of this paper!

How about a little steampunk card to finish it all off?

It’s Here!

I added the finishing touches yesterday and now it’s all done. Hope you let me know what you think. 🙂

This is my niece, Violet. She’s a great subject to scrapbook. Can’t wait to meet her. I love her already. 🙂 Okay, those are some of my handmade Prima like roses and since I can’t get the cool Prima wired sprays I made some to accent these. I used Flower Soft wires and inked them, then made them curly. Want to see some details?

Items used: Bo Bunny pattern papers; Cor’dinations and Prism cardstock; Jenny Baldwin tag; Heidi Swapp and dollar store bling; Flower Soft wires; Smooch, Versa Color, and Glimmer Mist inks; Basic Grey tag; Stickles; Martha Stewart punches; and Tombow, Glossy Accents, and Glue Dots adhesives.

I can’t wait to share my newest layout! I just love how it’s turning out. I just need to find my Glue Dots; I need more. lol Yeah, I know, just buy some stock in them already. Anyway, I know I have a full pack somewhere… But I guess I really should go to bed first. 😛 It is 3 am after all. But I was creating! What can I say, after a boring evening of cleaning house inspiration struck! Okay, will be sharing tomorrow.

I can’t wait! Can you?

Hello Cyber World!

So today, I’m cruising some blogs, and as I’m looking at bits and pieces and idea hits me. While cropping with some friends from Page Break (love you guys! The people, sadly the store is closed.) Nic wanted some help with a bit of bling. You know the kind, premade bling flourishes. Well, we all also know that once you take them off the backing they can be really hard to put down on you layout. So, why not just cut them out (the backing is clear after all) and then using micro Glue Dots (love these, and I use so many Glue Dots that I sometimes think I should own part of the company by now. lol) glue them to your page. An added bonus? It’s much easier to weave them in and around other elements on your page this way.

Today, I’m also creating more of my Prima style roses for a layout I’m working on. And I need to take some photos, out side, but I think it’s going to rain today.

What else am I doing today? Packing up some books to send home with my mom in a couple weeks. Well, I’m going to trade her a bag of mine for a bag of hers. lol 🙂 Gotta love having more than 1 person in the family that reads the same stuff. And of course the mandatory job hunting too.  That’s about it.

Hoping to develop a couple photos tomorrow. My daughter and I went for a walk, to Sev’s (7 Eleven) for slurpees the other week. We took the “dangerous” way, the back alleys. Okay, not so dangerous as it was still daylight out. But back alleys have the best graffiti! We actually didn’t find any nice stuff where we walked that night but we did find some spots that made for cool backgrounds for photos. So, a little photo shot along the way, and a slurpee for the walk back. What better way to spend an evening with your teen? Also, want to do a page about my omelets. I think it’s quite funny that somebody who hates eggs likes omelets and I have an idea in my head that will be cute, funny cute. 🙂

Okay, I should get back to my to do list.

It’s been so windy. I would like to take some of my layouts out and photograph them but can’t because of the wind. I have a bunch that I want to post. I really like how they turned out. Even if I don’t have the photos in them yet. 😛

I’m hosting a 30 page challenge at Skrap n’ Chat. Need to use up some of my stash of scrapbooking supplies. Can’t wait to get started on that. But first I need to go through my stuff and re-organize it. 😛 Ugh! I think that’s a job and a half.

Since I really want to be scrapping and not cleaning, what am I doing? I’m on here chatting about scrapping. lol Well, I guess I’m not making a bigger mess this way.

Well, I should get to said cleaning. 😛

Prima Like Roses

May 23, 2011 at 1:03 pm (Uncategorized)

So I made these cool roses the other week and I’ve had some request on how to make them. So, here goes. First let’s start with a finished product photo to entice you. 🙂 I made the first 5 and my DD made the last one. Two of the ones I made are made with pre-made Primas; that uses a couple different steps.

We are going to make ones like the plaid ones shown above. Supplies needed:

The circles are in 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 and 2″. We will be using 5 circles in 4 sizes. You need two of the smallest or largest circles. The steps will be the same either way. I usually use two of the smaller, but have done it the other way also and they both look good. 🙂 Let’s see, you will also need Glimmer Mist (my choice) or a spray bottle of water, ink (optional, I didn’t use it one these ones), scissors, needle nose pliers, a pencil, fast drying liquid glue and Stickles or loose glitter. Also, a couple 5 petal flatish flowers would be helpful.

Lightly mist your circles with mist or water on both sides. This makes the paper pliable and easier to work with when shaping. While waiting for them to dry mark circles in fifths(every 72 degrees, I used a pre-made flower to make my marks the first dozen times or so). Using your marks as a guide cut your circles into  5 petal flowers. Don’t worry about your small pencil marks, they won’t show. If you want to ink the edges, do it now.

Your circles/flowers should look something like this. Bend the petals back and forth (once in each direction works). Now get out your handy dandy pliers and curl the petals of your flowers. This step will need to be done rather quickly, as dry paper is more difficult to shape.

Do the 3 largest one this way. This is the under side of one. Do the 2 smallest with the curls going in opposite directions; one under, one over.

This is a small flower. Next you will want to shape this into a rough cone shape. I put a tiny amount of glue along the edge that is curled in and attach it to the petal next to it, about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way to the far side of it. Clear as mud? This leaves you some room to adjust the petals later on and make them more bud like. Next you will do the same thing with the second smallest flower but don’t glue the petals so far over, only about 1/4 of the way. Set these aside to allow the glue to set. Next take the two largest flowers and glue them together making sure to put the petals of one flower in between the petals of the other. Also, keep them centered, or your rose will be wonky.

Now add the third flower to the bottom two, following the same directions. You should have a set of flowers/petals like this:

Still with me? See the one in the bottom right? I some times do that one a little tighter and make the third layer look like that. Just makes it a little different. Next step, apply a little glue to the bottom of your bud and center it into the second layer, off setting the petals.

Set aside for a moment to dry. Go get your self a glass of wine; the hard part is over. 😉 When that’s dry add it to your bottom layers, centering and off setting as before. Use your pliers and adjust the petals to your liking.

I held it together this way for only a moment. Ididn’t wan t my pliers to be stuck there. Let it dry completely. When dry add Stickles, I used my finger to apply the Stickles and get a “more natural” dewy look. Not that glitter on flowers every really looks natural. 😛 I also added a dollop of Glossy Accents to the center because I had left it more open than I had intended.

The finished product:

Set aside and allow to dry for several hours. When dry add a glue dot and attach to project of your choice. 🙂 Hope you enjoyed this and that I did not confuse the heck out of you.

It’s only Wednesday and it’s already been a long week. 😛  Not because of anything that’s happened. It’s just dragging, that’s all.  Let’s see what have I been up to lately? Not a whole heck of a lot. Taught a class last night. That’s class #4! I don’t even get nervous any more. 🙂 I’m going to show off some of my more recent work here before cropping it and sharing it on the sites I scrap with. 🙂

This was the last class I did, but not last night’s. I love how this turned out! The ladies who took this class really enjoyed it. 🙂

Two of my nephews. Don’t they just remind you of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn? Yup, I bet they cause just about as much mischief too. lol Gotta love them.

Alliteration. V – The very vicious vampire played the violin, very badly. 😛 I love this LO. I’ve been playing with the idea of using one of these chipboard album letters on a LO but it just wasn’t gelling in my mind. Then we got this gorgeous line of paper in and it all just fell together.

Got time for one more? This one may become my all time favourite. I still need a photo for it but I’m wearing purple in the one I want to use so I need to edit it first.

You can’t read the journaling on her but it’s about going back in time and what I would do differently or like to change. Mostly it’s about missing my Papere and Grandpa who both passed away when I was young. This LO is even nicer in real life. While looking for this one I found a picture of the stationery box we made in class last night.

Okay, it’s not exactly like the one we made. The store is out of this paper and we didn’t make Christmas cards and tags to go in it. 😛 But you get the idea. 🙂

Tomorrow, is always a day away. 😛 Actually tomorrow is my Beginner’s Scrapbooking class at the store.  I think I’m ready for it. 🙂 Thought I’d post the completed layout tonight instead of tomorrow. So, who wants to see it? Left side.                                              Right side. 🙂                                                                                                                                      ‘Night!

The other day I had somebody describe my style as “vintage”. Hum… not sure that’s quite accurate. I just know that I like to try new techniques and products. If it works, it works and if it doesn’t, oh well there’s always next time. I also like to put lots of embellies on my pages. They make me happy! 🙂 Of course the layout this person was looking at is vintagey and not on my camera. 😦 Gotta fix that. But in the mean time here are a few for you to peruse.

I love this one, it’s so bright and fun. A friend (Thanks Emily, my scrappin’ sister!) sent me some bird die cuts and I’ve been hooked ever since. And to think I used to hate them. What was I thinking! Can you see my little golden friend on there? He’s pretty well hidden.

One of my nieces. Isn’t she a doll? I could just eat her up!

And here she is with her brother. He’s a cutie too. 🙂 But I might be biased on the subject. lol

Hope everybody has a great day. Off to pay for my new glasses. 😛
